In order to pass on the memory of war and the importance of peace to future generations, please be sure to stop by when you come to Okinawa.

A somber museum focused on school children who sheltered and died in a stone cave in front of the museum. They are commemorated in a photographic listing of each girl and their individual story.

Please excuse me for personal matters. I am a high school student who visited on a school trip from late November to early December. I am a fourth-generation atomic bomb survivor, and my mother suffers from unexplained visual impairment, so I have a deep connection to the war in my family, so I have always wanted to visit Himeyuri Tower. When I visited the Peace Memorial Hall this time, I actually saw the notes written by the members of the Himeyuri troop, and I was able to understand the devastation of the time much more than information I could find on the internet. Conflicts and wars continue to occur in recent years, including in Gaza and Ukraine, but through this school trip, I began to think more deeply about war and life.

Museum for a roughly 30-minute visit. An impressive (and sad) read about a tiny fragment of the Battle of Okinawa. The part about the "brainwashing" of students with war propaganda was especially interesting to me, that happened, is happening and will always happen. I'm glad I was there and I recommend it to everyone.

Looking at this picture makes me sad. I learned the fact that everything was lost due to the war. War is definitely bad.

The smile that showed the imagination of a better future in the graduation exhibition was eventually destroyed by the war, and the war was caused by the country that was supposed to protect itself.

I visited right after the 2021 renewal. The main materials are videos and testimonials. It took me 4 hours to see everything. Although it is privately run, the entrance fee is 450 yen and it is said to be in financial difficulties.
